About the Hunterdon Sailing Club
HSC Handbook
HSC Flyer
The Hunterdon Sailing Club was founded in 1964 and is a not-for-profit group dedicated to promoting
the sport of sailing. The club sponsors training programs for youth and adults, and organizes
races, cruises and special regattas for the enjoyment of both novice and veteran sailors.
Races are held twice weekly from May through October, at Spruce Run State Park. Cruising events are
also held throughout the season. Members include individuals and families, adults and youth that
always wanted to sail and have been looking for a chance to learn, as well as experienced sailors
of all ages. The club offers instruction, boats for loan to club members, and opportunities for
frequent sailing, both racing and cruising. Also, there are special events that range from
competitive, such as regional competitions for specific sailboat classes, to just plain fun,
including cruising, hot dog roasts & picnics. Here is a wonderful opportunity to spend more time
sailing close to home and less time driving to the shore!
The club hosts fleets for various classes of sailboats: Albacore, Day Sailor, Force 5, Flying Scot,
Jet-14, Laser, and Sunfish. In addition, the Cruising Fleet organizes social sailing events for all
types of boats. The Junior fleet, for sailors under 18 years of age, is also very active,
with a junior racing team, competitive racing with the entire club, holding its own events, and
traveling to events with other clubs.
